Eucalyptus Plantations

APFDC has raised Eucalyptus Plantations of seed origin initially in the Districts of East & West Godavari of A.P. from 1975 onwards.

Initially, the plantations were raised by raising the seedlings in polybags. These seed origin plantations were not effective in terms of growth and yields due to unknown origin of seed and their susceptibility to diseases. In order to achieve much higher productivity APFDC has been raising Eucalyptus clonal plantations from 1994 onwards by selecting the proven high yielding clones and raised the clonal plants. The average survival percentage of these clonal plantations is about 90 by end of 6th year and the yield per ha. is 70-80 MTs in high rainfall areas and 40-50 MTs in low rainfall areas.

The following are the extents of Eucalyptus Clonal Plantations raised by APFDC Ltd., as on 31/03/2020.
